Ever since I can remember I have wanted to build a new type of propulsion system. What comes after rockets if you will.

Lets get some context here… current propulsion systems are as simple as the motor in your car, or, a jet engine, a rocket, even the water jets that lift you up in the air on the jet pack rides!

So now you’re wondering, what comes after rockets? and I know… you’re probably thinking… UFO’s, and if that elicits inspiration, then I’m okay with that. While I don’t think waiting around for ET to drop by is prudent plan, there is nothing wrong with taking that inspiration, grounding it in known science, and working to take it to the next level.

To push me harder and create some inspiration and urgency around my goal I thought I would start looking at building a vehicle that I could put the propulsion system in, should I find a way to build it.  After all, if I have a cool vehicle, I will definitely want to fly it, what better motivation.

All of this has led me here.  Building a “Spaceship” is something you should document (especially if it actually works) and so we have the inception of Garage Spaceship, the perfect vehicle to document my journey, and, just as importantly, engage other people (or aliens – I don’t judge) along the way.

After all, it is never just about the destination, and so far the journey has led me to ideas I would never have thought I would have, and I have learnt so many new things simply because I am on this journey.

With Garage Spaceship being as much about the journey as the destination, it is also an opportunity to engage others who would be inspired by being either a small or large part of that journey.  Realizing these synergies could have the potential to fuel Garage Spaceship and provide the knowledge, skills and inspiration for success.

Of course, there is a lot of work to do… So lets get started!
